[内容简介] 中国乞丐文化在历史时段上有强大的延续性(时),在空间地域上有惊人的一致性(空),它与主流文化乃至精英文化之间又有生动活泼的交流性(上下),而这种交流性也反映在国家与社会的关系上,其实质也是一种上下关系。本书是作者在其英文获奖原著Street Criers基础上的再创作。全书紧扣时、空、上下这三个主题,对晚清以来的中国的城市底层文化进行了深入细致的研究。全书资料丰富、内容详实、立论严谨、文笔生动,是中国都市文化史和次文化研究领域内一部有创意的新作。
