脱胎于《国外社会学》的《社会理论》放眼整个社会科学和人文科学,将所有符合以“社会生泰和人类行动的文化产物”为研究对象的理论思考纳入视域;在继续评介国外各种社会学理论、深入了解世界社会理论最新潮流的同时,更侧重刊登中国两岸三地学者以国外社会理论为参照来探讨中国问题的学术成果,特别是扎根于中国本土经验、具有原创性的理论文章,以鼓励和催生具有中国本土特色、关注中国本土社会发展的理论努力,竭力推动中国社会研究和中国社会学研究的不断深化和成熟。
