本辑共有两个专题。专题一为“听觉文化研究”,与视觉文化相比,长期以来学者对听觉文化的关注比较少,可以说,无论在国内还是在国外,听觉文化研究都还处于起步阶段。本专题的几篇文章既有理论层面的探讨,又有对具体的声音现象的分析。听觉文化研究提出的背景是什么?强调听觉文化研究是为了对抗“视觉霸权”吗?如何研究现代作家笔下的“声景”?广播如何塑造了想象的共同体?本专题的论文对这些问题做了颇具开拓性的探析。专题二为“亚文化研究”,呈现了西方学术界关于亚文化与后亚文化的争议。随着新的亚文化形态和风格的出现,原来的亚文化理论已经失去阐释力了吗?后亚文化理论具有哪些新的共性特征?本专题的四篇译文观点并不一致,它们为我们呈现了亚文化研究领域的前沿动态。本辑的其他文章也各有特点,如对电子游戏在中国的去污名化过程的分析,从文学地理学的角度分析21世纪以来的诗歌创作,以及对宫斗题材作品的乌托邦建构的分析,都颇有可读之处。
